The island is accessible via ferry, private boat or airplane. Kelley’s Island Ferry Boat Line offers daily passenger and auto service hourly. Enjoy the refreshing 20 minute ferry ride, and rent a golf cart or bike on shore for island touring. You are also welcome to bring your own bikes. The island offers 30 miles of roads that are excellent for bike riding.
The 18 miles of shoreline on Kelley’s Island offer sandy beaches for sunbathing and swimming. Scuba dive or snorkel the waters surrounding the island to explore over 50 shipwrecks preserved by the cool freshwater lakes. Or grab your fishing pole and fish for some of the best walleye, perch and bass around. The island is often called the “walleye fishing capital of the world”. Fish from our stone pier or rent a boat. Charters are available, and our many bait shops offer fishing licenses and supplies. The island offers full service dockage for boaters.

Nature offers many attractions on the island including the Glacier Grooves Memorial, a unique formation of grooves in native limestone bedrock. The island is perfect for birders, look carefully and you may catch a glimpse of a bald eagle or osprey, and at night you may hear the hoot of a great horned owl. Butterflies are abundant on the island in our rich flora and fauna. Walk quietly at dusk or dawn and you may catch a glimpse of a white tailed deer.
